Soon to be on trial for involuntary manslaughter, Dr. Conrad Murray's main line of defense is that Michael Jackson was so weakened following years of abusing his body that he was essentially a lost cause and beyond help.
He wants to show jurors just how worn down MJ was, citing the star's big London announcement for the "This Is It" concerts planned for 2009:
Michael Jackson This Is It Press Conference
Moreover, a demanding concert schedule (that Murray had nothing to do) with was the catalyst for his untimely death ... so the physician claims.
On March 5, 2009, Michael announced his last 10 concerts ever in London that summer. "When I say this is it, it really means this is it," he said.
Jackson died June 25 of that year, weeks before the run of shows, which by that point had been extended to a staggering 50 concert dates.
Murray's defense team claims the video shows Jackson was deteriorating, both mentally and physically, when he made the announcement.
They're asking the judge for permission to show jurors the video, to prove Michael was literally on his last leg several months before his death.
How that absolves Conrad Murray of guilt for medicating him with Propofol, then doing whatever he was doing that day, remains to be seen.
But hey, if you're a defense attorney, you gotta try something.
For what it's worth, the Judge Michael Pastor already denied the defense's earlier, similar bid to admit Michael Jackson rehearsal footage.
