Job Description: Our internship will focus mostly on assisting our
agency in managing our client base. We have approximately 150 business
clients as well as a handful of individual clients. We do quarterly
benefit reviews and we expect that once our interns have been trained
that they will be able to conduct these reviews alone. We estimate
that the first 3 weeks of their internship will be spent training on
product knowledge for our various carriers. Additionally we will
sponsor our interns for their Maryland Health and Life producer?s
license so that they can properly represent our company with the
appropriate knowledge of the rules and regulations of the insurance
industry. This is also a huge benefit of our internship because this
license will last for 2 years and will be a very valuable addition to
a college student?s resume when they are seeking full time employment
upon graduation.
During a servicing appointment the student will be in charge of
meeting with employees, searching for claims, answering coverage
questions, etc. In the first 30 days of our internship we will pair
the student with a senior member of our staff for field training in
addition to a general product knowledge training which we conduct at
our office. We represent many major carriers such as Aetna, BC/BS, and
New Benefits among others. Additionally we will train our interns on
how work with other benefit providers and professional contacts to
expand both our client base and our networking base.
An internship with Aflac would require:
At least sixteen hours a week
Passing the Maryland State Health Insurance Exam (for Marketing, Management, Recruiting, and Sales Interns)
Becoming familiar with Aflac products and claim-filing processes (for Administrative Interns)
Attending four days of training (at no cost to the intern)
An internship with Aflac provides:
In-the-field work experience with Aflac agents and management team
Interview experience with a Fortune 500 company
Flexible schedule (perfect to fit around class schedules!)
The opportunity for a paid-internship (discussed in the interview process)
Expert training on important business skills such as marketing and recruiting
The possibility for employment after graduation (dependent upon performance during internship)
